Artists to watchBy Simon Mothapo Life has been a tad slow for most of us. Sitting all day on the couch and sipping the time away or binge-watching on your favorite series while simultaneously running errands (yes it is possible!). We know that life can be a tumultuous setting sometimes. That's why it pleases me to bring you, Ajay Marshall, today. As we all know him, he is a multi-talented Cape Town based Soul Trap artist who exudes nothing but passion and dedication to his music and everything else in his life. I caught up with him today to gain insight into his life during this Covid season: his accomplishments, how he enjoys his leisure as an artist and a businessman, and more. Stay tuned😉! Simon: Can you tell me what have you been up to lately? Ajay: Well I established a company, registered to be exact. Now it’s up and ready to operate. I’m also about to release an Amapiano song titled AREROBALE. Simon: What have you been doing to casually pass time during this Covid-19 season? Ajay: I spent a lot of time in the studio to connect with other artists. I mean that's my life as an artist man…in fact, I'm thinking of naming my album after my 7 months old baby girl named Nia, meaning purpose. Outside of that I haven’t been much of a playful person but I do go out a lot with my friends…I do explore the city that I am in (Cape Town.) That’s really what I always do man. I do go to sessions…But you know after this Covid thingy most sessions have been postponed and we been living without much performing. Simon: Will your upcoming album also feature Trap Soul?
Ajay: Yeah, obviously, trap soul is my original sound...with Amapiano I am just exploring and being versatile. Simon: Thank you so much for your time, Ajay. One last question before you go. What advice would you give to a person who wants to get into music? Ajay: I would really say that it is much better for one to first establish a good networking background...brand and invest in themselves...have patience and be real with who you are ....as you keep this in mind " -Ecclesiastes 9 verse 11 and 12. Time and chance are given to all but you chose to take or leave your opportunity when it is knocking on your door. Spoken by Ajay Marshall, a veteran in the world of independent music! Surely these words of wisdom can go a long way for anyone wishing to embark on a musical journey. Like always, Ajay continues to motivate us to chase our dreams unapologetically. Keep focus and never stop grinding. It is truly an honor to have him in our magazine. Stay tuned for his upcoming album, it is surely worth your time! Thank you for spending time with us🤍
