By Editor Simon Mothapo The Weeknd (AKA Abel Makkonen Tesfaye) is a well-known pop singer. His gloomy childhood is very unfortunate but many believe that it precedes him. It is a type of childhood I personally wish he could recover from. His father abandoned him at a tender age of six. Years later The Weeknd became a shoplifter with heavy use of drugs like cocaine, ketamine and MDMA. In his interview with the Guardian, he admitted to only seeing his father when he was six and then again briefly when he was "11 or 12". Now, what does that have to do with gang rape and the women he dates? Well, the answer is complex. Deep psychological scars eventually lead to a chain reaction that can manifest in numerous facets. First shoplifting and then heavy drug abuse? Then what? We should keep in mind that The Weeknd isn’t getting any younger. With his psychological issues unresolved, unfortunately, his childhood erotic behavior became a gateway to even more detrimental adult behavior. Drug abuse quickly became boring to him (but probably still a vital part of his life). Singing about his fantasies became a therapeutic mechanism to relief his lifelong pain. He eventually became a huge, powerful star because people like his music. He is talented, sexy, a good songwriter, and an acute businessman.
What most people don't realize is that with that type of power his fantasies can finally become reality…and...we all know what his fantasies are:
And then something scary happens. He sings about gang rape: “Well, baby you can have it all. There's just something that I need from you…is to meet my boys. I got a lot of boys and we can make you right. And if you get too high…baby, come over here and RIDE IT OUT”- The Weeknd in XO/The host Taking an intoxicated woman and introducing her to your crew of 'a lot of boys' so y’all can ‘ride it out’ is undeniably gang rape. This fantasy of his can potentially become a reality. We can’t even say with certainty that it hasn’t. Who fantasizes about things like these anyway? The majority of The Weeknd’s fanbase are women and young girls who happily sing to this song. Are these people desensitized to the dangers of these kinds of ideologies? Ever wondered why there are women who blame a woman who got raped? Failing to empathize with her? Isn’t it a result of missing an opportunity to learn about a woman’s worth and that her body belongs to one but herself as children? There is a high chance that these women might have been dominated by an abusive manly figure for a significant period in their lives or endured adverse behavior from men somehow. The Weeknd’s promotion of these ideologies isn’t helping at all. Clearly, he has exhausted the capacity of music to help him soothe his demons. What he needs right now is professional help. Wouldn’t it be more inspiring to hear him singing about something more positive? Like overcoming his life-long depression? If you are his fan and are reading this, I believe you know that I am right. The money and the Grammies are of little importance to him. His soul is worth saving. The Weeknd is clearly in turmoil psychologically. I know I don’t need to say this but the women close to him are subject to his demons and all have chosen to part ways with him no matter how much they love him. His relationships cannot last. We know that this is just a tit-bit of a much bigger issue. I truly hope that one day Abel may confront and conquer his demons. It is never too late. Thank you for spending time with us🤍💔 By editor Simon Mothapo Over the past few days, Lori Havey has been in headlines and trending topics on numerous platforms. One would think Lori has won an Oscar or something like that but it turns out she has been living her life the way she deems fit. Parting ways with what no longer works for her and embracing new opportunities in her love life. I know celebrities’ lives are always under public scrutiny but seriously? So in 2021 people are still shocked by a woman exploring the avenues of her love life? Lori Harvey is a beautiful, intelligent, and brilliant young woman in her twenties living her life the way she wants. I don’t see anything wrong with that? What irks me in all of this is the underlying tone of patriarchy, gender bias, and desire for societal control over women. I wonder who are those people causing all this buzz. Are they the same people who find it perfectly fine for men to hop from one relationship to another? Or the same people who would defend a cheating man and yet scrutinize a woman? It's very worrying that Lori can't celebrate her newfound love on Instagram in peace. Is it that difficult to say "I am happy for you Lori" or some sort of a variant? While most people take this buzz for amusement, I am in my little room surfing the internet in shock. I applaud those who managed to point out the madness in all of this. The very few who managed to celebrate Lori’s new love. Let Lori Live! Thank you for tuning in🤍 ![]() Music is an ever-flowing energy permeating all spheres of our lives. Almost every human being has a relationship with music somehow. For some music is an activity of leisure. To wind down. For others, music is a passion, a platform for expression, and a profession. Today we touch base with FwFeyi. An afro-fusion artist who describes himself as a calm person. I (Simon) interviewed him about his latest music, upcoming projects, and general aspects just to gain a deeper insight into him! Simon: What inspired you to do music? FwFeyi: To be honest I don’t know. I’ve just always wanted to do it…can’t remember wanting to do any other thing. Simon: So it's always been a passion. Your song Forever is a dope track. I really enjoyed it! Can you tell us what the song is about? FwFeyi: Thank you very much. Well, Forever is me really just telling a babe that I want her forever, like a wedding love song basically. Like a husband to his wife. Simon: Okay, is this particular someone in your life, or were you referring to people generally? FwFeyi: Nope, no one. Simon: I hear you. You also posted on your Twitter account that your music is 99% complete. What should your fans expect from your upcoming music? FwFeyi: To be honest, that’s been there for a whole year. Regardless expect vibesss! Simon: Vibessss! I know music takes time bro. Even famous artists postpone stuff sometimes. So which genre/genres best describe your music? FwFeyi: Uhm yeah…probably afro-fusion…because there’s no direct way to how I make music. Simon: I hear you, man. There is also a song you did with Fefe. Y'all sing good! How was it like making the song with Fefe? FwFeyi: Actually I was featured…Temi sax owned the song. He just needed someone to sing on it. It was quite calm honestly because he playing the sax and I was singing. FwFeyi is clearly in love with making music. It is an inborn passion. We can safely assume that he will never stop making and his star will keep rising higher and higher. Wishing him nothing but the best in his journey. Thank you for spending time with us🤍 After getting into spoken word at a very young age and winning his first poetry battle, Finesse the Scenario (commonly known as Finesse) found a deep love for music, ran forward with it, and never looked back. This Kempton Park based rapper merges conscious rap, trap, and hip-hop, a distinctive sound like no other. His go-getter, self-made nature got him to build his own home studio and, against all odds, pursue and pour out his love for music and rapping. He is currently signed under Lost Souls Entertainment but has not released any music officially. I (Mosa) personally have reviewed his music and I must say it's worth the wait. Today we got to hang out with Finesse (Kopano Mafifi) and gained deeper insight into his love for music, where it all started for him, and the other interests that make him an all-rounded individual. His love for music and where it all started "It started in grade three, very young my classmates had a poetry battle, so I gave it a shot and won the battle since then I've been immersed in music." The story behind Finesse: The Scenario "I was caught in a predicament, a very tricky scenario. So, after I overcame the odds, I just realized that I had a scenario and I finessed it so that's where the name "Finesse The Scenario" came from." Pushing his music against all odds and Finessing through quarantine "It was not easy for sure, but I had to balance them. The covid-19 pandemic was not a setback for me. It actually made me work harder. I actually found myself during quarantine." His current solo project "All is going well I'm currently workin' on a project called "In Body And In Mind" The sound he's going for in the upcoming project and the story behind it "I'm going conscious on this project, In Body refers to me obtaining my goal and in mind refers to me achieving my goal mentally" His other interests outside music "I'm really passionate about architecture, trading, and bodybuilding. I find myself in each platform" The project will be dropping… "On the 15th of January (2021) for sure, it will be available on Soundcloud, Audiomack, and Spotify." Finesse has been in this game for a considerable amount of time, but the upcoming solo project is the first of many successes he is destined to achieve. His motivation and devotion will surely see him move up in sharp Finesse, making his mark in history and tapping into the collective consciousness with his art. We wish him nothing but all things good and positive for the year 2021, and beyond. Thanks for spending time with us🤍 |
