​Over the past few days, Lori Havey has been in headlines and trending topics on numerous platforms. One would think Lori has won an Oscar or something like that but it turns out she has been living her life the way she deems fit. Parting ways with what no longer works for her and embracing new opportunities in her love life. I know celebrities’ lives are always under public scrutiny but seriously? So in 2021 people are still shocked by a woman exploring the avenues of her love life? Lori Harvey is a beautiful, intelligent, and brilliant young woman in her twenties living her life the way she wants. I don’t see anything wrong with that?

What irks me in all of this is the underlying tone of patriarchy, gender bias, and desire for societal control over women. I wonder who are those people causing all this buzz. Are they the same people who find it perfectly fine for men to hop from one relationship to another? Or the same people who would defend a cheating man and yet scrutinize a woman? It's very worrying that Lori can't celebrate her newfound love on Instagram in peace. Is it that difficult to say "I am happy for you Lori" or some sort of a variant?

While most people take this buzz for amusement, I am in my little room surfing the internet in shock. I applaud those who managed to point out the madness in all of this. The very few who managed to celebrate Lori’s new love.
